Lancashire Area Pastoral Committee

Lancashire Area consists of 15 pastorates as well as individual churches, 42 churches in all. The work of the Area Pastoral Committee (APC) concerns people and pastorates. Configuration of pastorates, placements, providing a 'listening ear' for ministers, lay preachers and congregations if there is conflict, guiding and supporting churches in vacancy, considering applications for grants and appeals against M&M, providing access to expert advice on building problems, helping to resolve disputes by providing support, guidance and options, monitoring LEPs – all lie within the remit of the Committee.

The Committee meets every two months and receives reports on on-going matters. People and pastorates under discussion change as problems and opportunities are resolved. In between meetings, members deal with issues and queries that arise and this is in addition to their everyday work.

The Lancashire Area Pastoral Committee is made up of ministers and lay people who all bring a variety of skills and experience to the table. Whilst the agenda often has to deal with very serious matters there is a time for humour too. Underpinning everything, however, is the intent to carry out God's will prayerfully.
