Synod Moderator - Revd Andrew Mills

AndrewMills Moderator

Andrew was invited to take up the role of Synod Moderator in September 2015, and was willing to respond to that call to share with others the wide ranging responsibilities for the life and witness of the churches across the Synod.

Within the breadth of the task Andrew sees the pastoral care of ministers and the support of congregations as a priority, in enabling both ministers and churches to fulfil their calling to a life of Christian work, worship and witness in local communities.

Andrew also represents the Synod at a regional (and national) level, particularly in ecumenical contexts where building relationships is key to a closer working together and a cooperation which strengthens our joint witness to Jesus Christ.

Andrew is married to Ruth, and they have 4 adult children Harriet (married to Tom), Amy, Elspeth and Esther. In addition the family seem to accumulate pets including 4 guinea pigs, 2 cats, one rabbit, and one dog called Ollie.

Learning & Development Officer - Tim Mountain

TimMountainTim is a Baptist minister who has pastored churches in Kent and Lincolnshire over a period of 25 years before taking up a tutor post in 2013 at Northern Baptist College in Manchester.

In October 2016 Tim was appointed to a role shared between Northern College (Support and Development Tutor) and North Western Synod (Learning and Development Officer).

He is married to Shirley and they have two adult children. He has been a Spurs supporter since childhood, through which he learns lessons about hope and shattered dreams.

Tim’s Synod responsibilities include working on the Introductory Course for candidates accepted for training for URC ministry, and he will be working with the EM2 and EM3 programmes for ministers. So, ministers, if you wish to apply for advice about future study or to apply for a grant, Tim’s your person.
